A special message from Will O’ The Wisp: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

EFFECTIVE MARCH 22, 2020

To comply with recent updates to Maryland’s Executive Order and instructions from the Garrett County Board of Commissioners, Will O’ The Wisp will no longer be accepting new reservations for arrivals within the next few weeks until the restrictions have been lifted. Throughout this entire situation, we have communicated with and worked alongside local and state officials concerning efforts to decrease the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) to our community and to protect our staff, our guests, and our homeowners. With the guidance of these state and local officials, we’ve modified our processes at every turn to make sure every possible measure was taken for precaution and safety. As always, the health and safety of everyone involved is absolutely paramount above all else.

The most recent update from the Garrett County Board of Commissioners prohibits stays in vacation rental homes that sleep 10 or more people. All renters and homeowners who are currently staying in the area have already been notified of these new changes. In addition to this new limitation, they’ve also advised that all incoming stays be moved or cancelled. If your reservation has an arrival date in the next few weeks, we will be contacting you about moving or cancelling your stay.

We appreciate all of your cooperation and support through this ever-changing and stressful time. We are here for you now and will be here for you when this passes.

You can read the full press release from the Garrett County Board of Commissioners here.

We would like to start off by sharing that your health, welfare, and safety always remain our utmost concern.  As you are planning your next visit with us here at Will O’ The Wisp, we anticipate that you may have questions about our efforts to manage Coronavirus (COVID-19) and your vacation rental.  We want you to feel confident, whenever you visit, that all our actions are focused on your health, well-being, and comfort.

Please visit https://governor.maryland.gov/coronavirus/ for all current and future updates to restrictions on the state of Maryland’s businesses and residents. We also encourage you to read over the CDC Guidelines for COVID-19 here.

Precautionary Measures Currently Being Utilized:

Check-In:
Our guests will check in at the front desk and receive their keys and code. The staff will practice social distancing to answer any of your questions. If you will be arriving after 6pm for check-in, you will pick up your key packet at Arrowhead Market with your photo ID. Arrowhead Market is open 24 hours and is located less than half a mile from the hotel (specific instructions/directions given in your pre-arrival emails).

Our front desk is still open in the event you have an issue or emergency. We ask that our guests please contribute to the welfare of the community by following social distancing procedures, however we are here to help in the event an issue or emergency arises. Please contact us by phone first and we would be happy to discuss them with you: (866) 976-2792.

Preparing For Your Arrival:
Our housekeeping staff has always used, and will continue to use, high-grade disinfectant and multi-purpose cleaner, utilizing disposable hand wipes instead of reusable cloths. Our staff is also increasing focus on frequently touched items, such as doorknobs, faucets, switches, etc. and ensuring all guidelines recommended by the CDC and County Health Department regarding special practices for COVID-19 prevention are followed.

Throughout Your Visit:
Our team is taking extra measures to communicate the importance to all staff who may be ill to stay home. Our staff at work are practicing good hygiene through frequent hand washing and the use of disinfectant, and wiping down surfaces in our work space, as well as practicing social distancing recommendations. Our front desk will be staffed during the day from 8am – 6pm daily, and are available after hours for emergencies and maintenance concerns.

Cancellations:

Currently, we are taking calls to discuss flexible cancellation and date moving requests due to extenuating circumstances on arrivals up through April 30th. We are staying updated on conditions revolving around the nationwide concern of COVID-19 and how this may affect rentals farther into the future, and will adjust the dates allowed within the policy as time goes on and more is known about the longevity of this impact.

If you are arriving on or before April 30th and would like to discuss your reservation, please call us at (866) 976-2792. If you are arriving after April 30th, we ask that you please leave the phone lines open for those arriving in the more immediate future and we will continue to keep this page updated, as well as direct email communication with our guests, as we know more about the impact this may have on your vacation.
